What is Frontline Solutions at the Dr. Peter Centre?
Most people know the Centre for the work we do providing care and support for people living with HIV in Vancouver. Since 2015, we’ve also been supporting other organizations across Canada that also strive to care for equity-seeking populations. Our support for these other organizations comes in the form of one-to-one mentorship, immersive & experiential training, sharing our model of care, leading community of practice groups, giving microgrants, and working with Indigenous partners to so that health care and social services better meet the needs of Indigenous peoples. We tackle the problems that other people can’t solve.
What does “knowledge translation” mean?
It’s a technical term in health care used to talk about the process by which new practices and services are adapted to the local context and ultimately expanded throughout the health care system. Traditionally, research does “knowledge creation” by evaluating practices. While “knowledge translation” pushes the uptake of that new knowledge by explaining, starting, and supporting those new services within health care delivery. Our brand of KTE both creates knowledge and mobilizes it for a more effective and efficient health care system.
