Attendance Up by 45%
December 2011 marked the first anniversary of weekend service in the Dr. Peter Centre’s day health program. Attendance in the program has increased by an incredible 45% since changing from a 5-day program to a 7-day program.
We’ve also recorded increases across the board since the start of seven
day service. Overall contacts between our clinical team and clients
increased by 35%**. Basic support contacts increased 22%**. In some
cases, there were enormous increases reflecting the fact that we can now
offer more opportunities to engage our clients in specialized
counseling and therapy programs, such as art therapy attendance (up
196%**).
The most telling increases were recorded in the area of nursing. We
have long known that many of our clients require daily support for their
HIV treatment and medication needs and the numbers show significant
increases in key nursing support services (see below).

*5-day service represents attendance over 4-months from Aug 1, 2010 to Nov 30, 2011.
**7-day service represents the attendance for Dec 1, 2010 to Nov 30, 2011, averaged to represent an average 4-month period since beginning 7-day service.
